Fast-paced Walking benefit.

A systematic review of several studies has found that walking at a faster pace may help lower the risk of developing type 2 diabetes (T2D) in adults. The review analyzed data from 10 cohort studies conducted in the United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom, involving a total of 18,410 participants.

It found that individuals who engaged in fairly brisk or brisk/striding walking had a significantly lower risk of T2D compared to those who walked at an easy or casual pace. Specifically, those who walked at a fairly brisk pace had a 24% lower risk of developing T2D, while those who walked at a brisk/striding pace experienced similar benefits.

The findings suggest that encouraging people to increase their walking speed could enhance the health benefits associated with walking and reduce the risk of T2D.

However, it’s important to note that some of the studies included in the review had limitations, such as potential bias and inadequate adjustment for confounding factors. Nevertheless, the results highlight the potential benefits of faster-paced walking in preventing T2D.
