Tinubu returns to Abuja from AU Summit

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has returned to the country after attending the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union Heads of State and Government in Ethiopia.

The President earlier departed Abuja, Nigeria on February 14th to travel to Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, where he participated in the Summit.

Five days after leaving, Tinubu arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Nigeria at around 4:00 pm local time on Monday. He was welcomed by several top government officials, including his Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Minister of State for Defense Bello Matawalle.

According to DAILY POST reports, the President’s return comes amid protests in many parts of the country over the current economic hardships facing citizens. It is recalled that outraged Nigerians had blocked major roads in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State as well as Otukpo in Benue State, calling on the Federal Government to urgently address the hardship.
